The park is located in Argentina’s Santa Cruz province is home to many lakes, mountains and snow fields. The second biggest in Argentina has been announced a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1981. The national park came into existence in the year 1937 and the proper location of it is Austral Andes of Argentina. Major part of the park holds enormous snow fields and the fields include total 47 glaciers. Out of total 47 glaciers, 13 moves to in the direction of Atlantic Ocean. The park of splendid exquisiteness, it is also renowned as Patagonic Continental Ice. The northern part of the park can be paradise for mountaineers and trekkers as it contains number of mountains and the eminent among them are Cerro Torre and Mount Fitz Roy.
The park is separated into two parts i.e, North and South and both the sides hold one lake each. The north part contains Lake Viedma and Lake Argentino is located in the South part. Both the lake vicinities contain many big and small and big glaciers and water of both the lakes gets collected in Santa Cruz River.

Glaciers
It is must mentioning that here the glaciers can be seen on the Ice cap at 1500 mts above the se level unlike the other parts of the world wherein, the glaciers are positioned over 2500 mts over sea level. Upsala is the biggest glacier however, the tourists find Moreno glacier much attractive because, the view of slipping of large pieces of ice in the Lago Argentino Lake looks very seductive.
Wildlife
The park is extended in the area of about 4,459 square km. In the East part you can see flourishing forests and the West part is full of lakes, ice fields and huge glaciers. The park is must visit to take a close look at its wildlife and the wildlife is comprise of chinchillas, guanacos, guemal, condors, and pudu, among all and here you also can take a look at more than 100 types of bird species. October to March is regarded as the right time to tour the park however, sometimes considering the tourists’ demand, the touring schedule is expanded.
It is one of the favorite destinations from the tourists all over the world. The two must visit places in the park includes Lago Roca and Lago del Desierto. To reach the park, you can start your tour to the park from El Calafate, a village in the vicinity of Lake Argentino and in the Northern part is the village El Chaltén. The park is looked after by Administración de Parques Nacionales. All the seasons are favorable to tour the place.

Los Glaciares is a major attraction for international tourists, and has an annual budget of more than one million dollars .
Starting points of tours are the village of El Calafate at the shore of Lake Argentino but outside the park, where the park’s administration has its headquarters, and El Chaltén village in the northern part of the park, at the foot of the Fitz Roy.
Other touristic points in the park include Lago del Desierto and Lago Roca.
