Chiripa Pata refers to the most recently excavated archeological site in Taraco on the bank of the sacred Lake Titicaca in La Paz. Many archaeologists have considered it to be the pre-Tiwanaku culture that was populated between 1000 BC and 1100 AD. Literally meaning ‘Fluke’ and located at a distance of 15 km from the Chiripa city, this was once a huge temple with several tombs, which held the three-building episodes.
At this site, one can see a man-made mound that is six meters tall and on which a myriad of rectangular rooms flank a subterranean temple. With this, it was considered to be the ceremonial house of the ancient people living here. An unbelievably magnificent archeological site is placed in Central Bolivia’s mountains. The spot declared as World Heritage Site, here we can see carvings of several animals. The place came into existence during 300 AD and at that time it was inhabitanted by Mojocoyas. However, during the 14th century the Incas migrated to the place and the archeological findings are also confirming the presence of Incas. A place was founded by Spanish and it was named as El Fuerte. The archeologists and other scholars started attaining the place during 18th century. A significant archeological spot is located in western Bolivia and is in close proximity to Lake Titicaca. The city will introduce you with the Incan tradition as the place contains many Inca ruins and the ruins can be seen at the Lake Titicaca’s south-eastern coast. The spot has inscribed its identity in writing during 1549 by Pedro Cieza de León, Spanish conquistador. Registered its name in UNESCO World Heritage site, its proper location is Bolivia’s La Paz Department.
